Hello my name is Lisa Rae
Purpose in life is incredibly important as an adult, but at times undervalued especially as we get older or suffer any sort of injury or disability. For some older adults, adults with an injury or living with neurological conditions such as Parkinson’s, this can potentially change their value and zest for life they once had. Through encouragement, positivity and support in accepting their, at times new way of life, I see amazing changes in my clients lives who continue to live the life they choose with joy and a new found confidence, despite the challenges they face.
I am a very proud Mother and Grandmother who’s professional, reliable, meticulous and conscientious and values people, their health and wellbeing. I have always been interested in wellbeing and how we can improve our lives with simple but positive changes. I love animals, especially dogs but also had an amazing cat for 23 years called Saffie, pictured below. My wonderful family are incredibly important to me and with them I know I can work through anything. I work with not only my clients but their families also, and I become the support to my clients who don’t have a family of their own. I begin by listening and understanding what my clients are feeling, what is and has been important in their lives, and what they want to enjoy and how I can build some pleasure and interest in their life going forward. I also offer support with administration, advocacy and calls to help my clients through the frustrations of dealing with things such as domestic bills, council issues, funding/benefit or pension queries. Working with my clients, at times hearing their amazing stories, great achievement’s and life in general gives myself and my clients great fun and laughter and for me incredible satisfaction in the work I do.
I am trained and qualified in adult and social care within the Social and Wellbeing support sector for over 25 years. I specialised in working with older adults and after further training supported adults with Dementia and neurological conditions such as head injuries, such as strokes and Parkinson’s. I also have experience in supporting clients with Autism spectrum disorder (ASD), Depression and Anxiety. I offer calm encouragement, support and opportunities to my clients within my bespoke service.
My work is focused on person-centred care, on a one to one basis; forming trust and familiarity using clear listening skills.
I strongly feel that the trust and confidence of my clients if fundamental for understanding what is both important and stimulates them. The support I provide helps to give my clients purpose, and allows them to take pleasure from things they potentially believed were no longer possible.
Following the initial assessment with both my client, and often their family, I identify the areas I can support with to bring some joy and happiness based upon what my clients needs. There’s always positive progress and opportunities for self develop, community involvement and socialisation, making life more interesting and less concerning when the modern world of technology hampers practical tasks in general.
The clients I support are within East Sussex, why not give me a call and we can have a chat.
I look forward to hearing from you.
Take care
Lisa Rae
